Fact-Checking Policy

Fact-check articles should identify the claim being evaluated, explain the evidence reviewed and distinguish what is known from what remains uncertain. Whenever practical, editors should prioritize primary records, direct statements, official datasets and other traceable evidence.

A rating or conclusion should not imply more certainty than the available evidence supports.
